Heat resistant paint

The radiator, the hood of a car in full sun, the wood stove in the garden, the exhaust or brake calipers of a vehicle. You’d rather not put your hand on one of these hot objects, but when is it warm enough for Heat Resistant Paint?

Heat-resistant paint is available for different temperatures, which one you need depends on how hot your object can get. There are quite a few questions about this, but in this blog about heat-resistant paint we hope to put an end to these questions once and for all!

What are the different temperatures for heat-resistant paint?

Just like our range of RAL colours, we also have a range of different types of heat-resistant paint. Heat-resistant paint is available for objects that reach a temperature of 80 degrees, 100 degrees, 300 degrees, 400 degrees, 650 degrees and even 800 degrees Celsius.
The most common temperature is up to 80 degrees. These are practically all spray cans of paint.

I want to spray paint my radiator. Can I also spray a normal RAL color on it?

In other words, every spray can of paint is heat resistant to a certain extent, namely 80 degrees. It is therefore very possible to spray the radiator at home with a RAL color, for example matte black.
As long as you don’t forget to finish it with a 1k or 2k clear coat.

I want to renovate the rusted wood stove in the garden. Which spray cans of paint do I need?

These are of course the fun projects that also make our aerosol can hearts beat faster.
For this project we recommend the following: sanding until rust-free and heat-resistant paint.

My neighbor's brake calipers are neon yellow, is that color also heat resistant?

There is quite a bit of confusion about this. Brake calipers do not get very hot! In terms of heat, you can compare this with the radiator. What really gets hot are the brake discs. For that reason, it is very possible to spray your brake calipers in any desired RAL color, including neon yellow. Provided you choose top quality paint. But don’t forget to finish the project with, in this case, the 2K clear coat from SprayMax.

Tips for using aerosol cans:

It is advisable to take a number of things into account. That’s why we’ve listed our tips for every project again:
Shake your spray can well for 2 minutes, cold and moisture are your great enemy, make sure your surface is free of dust and grease, take spray mist into account, do not apply your material too thickly (build up in thin layers), Check your 2K products carefully whether you have activated the aerosol can.
